growing up in new hampshire, the sawx were my world....
and in that world there was a villain, and he was awesome.
already a superstar with oakland, when reggie joined the yankees he became a superhero, a larger than life comic book character on the diamond, his mighty twisting swing corkscrewing himself into the batter's box, hit or miss!
his 1978 card personifies everything about reggie in one frame, his power beautifully captured on a gorgeous afternoon in the bronx...i love everything about this card....the composition is perfect...the thin strip of grass in the foreground, the chalk line of the batters box, the shadow in the dirt and the sliver of daylight beneath his knee....the all star badge...there's just so much "story" being told
~~the PACK OF CARDS series~~
growing up i was obsessed with baseball cards
i collected as many as i could get my hands on, and i studied them!
the artwork, the stats, everything, i couldn't get enough
literally every dime i made on my paper route went to cards
baseball cards taught me about math, statistics, economics, spelling,
geography, graphic design, on and on....
and they became an integral part of my love for the game
in this series, i will be revisiting and reimagining some of my favorite cards.
each piece of original art will be framed along with the original card,
double, sometimes triple matted, with museum glass
(there won't be any prints made, just the originals)
i'll add progress pics so you can follow the creation of each piece
